Been Awhile.

hAnd I apologize for my disappearance.  School and two jobs was beginning to hog all my time.  Which is sad that I left my blog alone, because I love to write, and I love to share.  Things between the boy and I are still going wonderfully.  I am now working at my DREAM job.  I get to write, be creative, and interact with other equally creative people :D  I'm working for Red Hill General Store .  They are a great company, with wonderful people, and they are definitely wanting to do big things in our community.

School-wise, I'm still going, I'm able to write off 5 classes due to testing out of several and my adviser helping me to rearrange things so that I can also get Dreamweaver certified, which will be a big help at my new job.  And I'm still getting my Administrative Degree.  So I'm super exciting about that.  This upcoming semester has one class that is killer according to other people that I've talked to, but I'm going to try to not disappear for as long of a period as I did this past time.  I'm still not going to brave doing Etsy until after I'm finished with my degree.  But I will try to write as often as possible and I'm also going to start blogging about the things that The Boy (aka Richie) and I are doing to further our dreams along, I'll let you know all the wonderful events that Red Hill is doing, and also I'm going to try to do a little volunteering this upcoming year, and I will keep you updated with pics, etc. on all of these things.

For New Year's resolutions:  Be healthier.  Volunteer (at least once a year until out of school).  Try to not be so hard on myself.  Make more time for my friends.  And to finally get back to the roots of who I am and figure out what type of person I want to be.

Whew...

Gee, with all the work at Peds, homework, housework, and work blogging and rewriting descriptions for Red Hill General Store, I haven't had time to keep up with my own blog or with Etsy... I'm hoping that I won't have quite as much homework this weekend and I'll be able to make some jewelry and get it listed.  Its been crazy busy in my life lately.  That and making time for The Boy, who is amazingly supportive with all my work.  I couldn't do it without him that is for sure.  :)  Speaking of, here's my current fave pic of The Boy and me:

Busy day

Well, there's lots of updates.  I am now officially divorced.  Yay!  I just got back from the hospital, my best friend had some hemorrhaging after having her baby over a month ago.  She had to have an emergency surgery, she's doing better now, but I'd greatly appreciate it if you would send good thoughts her way.  I have a 2nd job (in addition to being a clerk in a dr.'s office, being a full time student, and trying to do jewelry on etsy on the side) I love this job, I am doing some writing from home for redhillgeneralstore.com  it is an awesome company, and they offer just about everything online and in their actual brick & mortar shop.  The people are great and I love to write so its a match made in heaven.

Another bit of good news...I won a poetry contest, details at this blog: http://blog.accentuateservices.com/2010/10/14/1412/comment-page-1/#comment-2493

Hopefully things will calm down a bit and I can focus more on my jewelry and on my loyal blog followers.  Until then, I'll try to keep you posted :)

Sales, Fire, and Speeches Oh My!

Made my first sale.  Sold a pair of earrings to one of my mother's friend for a birthday gift.

The Boy's work place caught on fire temporarily today.  It was a plant separate from his, but still it causes me to worry about him during the day.  So far as I know no one was hurt though.

Been working on my experience speech for Communications class.  Not a whole lot of fun.  And its a whole lot to remember has to be 5 minutes.  (YIKES) So wish me luck on that.  Our paper on it is due Thurs, and the speech is due the following Tues.

Well off to work on some more homework.  Just wanted to give ya'll an update. :)

New Treasury, New Week

I have a Woodsy Themed Treasury at this link.  A few of the items featured are below:

Forested Away Unexpectedly

Tomorrow is my first day of online classes, I'm getting uber nervous.  Then Tuesday will be the nerve wracking experience of setting foot into a classroom again.  I'm mainly scared b/c I was an honor roll, national honor society, government school going, AIM Scholar, Advanced Studies Diploma type student, and here I am 7 years later, scared that maybe I won't be good at it anymore.  I don't know that I could handle failing.  I'll just have to make that NOT AN OPTION.

LOL.  Wish me luck!

Hoping to get Critiqued.

I posted in the Etsy Forums to get a critique on my shop, if you are on Etsy please visit this link and help me out: http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=6597599 I would sooooo greatly appreciate it!

I am hoping to get my shop as flawless as possible before I start going to school in 2 weeks, so that I can use my spare time for making jewelry and listing it (and hopefully shipping it) instead of trying to work out kinks in the store.  That would be a great help to me.  And since my hours have been cut at work I could definitely use some extra income if I could get this thing up and going.  Everyone has said this summer has been slow on Etsy, so hopefully I'll start seeing some more action as we move towards the holidays.

Well I am off to clean, organize, and make some jewelry.

On a more interesting not, our local Wal-Mart was witness to a robbery of its bank inside:

UPDATE: Robbery at Woodforest National Bank located in the Wal-Mart on East Stuart Drive

A spokesperson for Galax Police Chief Rick Clark advised that on August 4, 2010 shortly after 2:00 P.M. that Galax Police responded to a reported armed robbery at the Woodforest National Bank located in the Wal-Mart store located on East Stuart Drive in Galax.

Employees of the bank told responding officers that a W/F approached the tellers and produced a robbery note. The note alleged that there was a second suspect who was armed and would start shooting if they did not comply. The suspect was given the amount of money specified in the note.

The female suspect is described as:

White
5’4”
Blonde hair
Scar on left arm
Slender build 140-150 lbs
Black tee shirt
Blue jeans
Approximately mid to late 40’s

At the time of the robbery the suspect had her hair pulled up into a black ball cap, she is seen exiting the store after having removed the cap. Her hair in that photo is described as blonde and long pulled into a pony tail.

Police have not verified that a second suspect is involved.

Anyone who thinks that they may have seen the suspect is asked to contact Galax Police 276-236-8101.

Neat Idea

I came across a really neat site: http://www.fantazya.ca/diary2011.html

You can get a free ad in their book by designing a page and submitting it to them.  And the book is made with recycled paper (right on!)  It looks like the next year is going to be full soon, but bookmark the site and send them something for 2012.  Or buy one, they look really snazzy.  I'm debating this as a gift for me!  LOL.

Etsy

I've been throwing around the idea of getting back on Etsy and selling some of the jewelry I've been making and see how it goes.  I've got a few pieces that are ready to list, but I want to wait til I have a few more so that my shop doesn't look too empty.  So naturally I've been throwing around a few shop name ideas in my head....Need some help here.  I'm hoping to have some more quirky, different, brightly colored, and just fun jewelry along with a little steampunkish items (as The Boy, has def inspired me to start liking all things Steampunk and its a recent thing so I'm exploring it currently) So please see my ideas below, and help me out.

Which one do you like best?  Don't like any of them, please list a suggestion:
1. Raen's Rockin' Regalia
2. Raen's Chop Shop    (like to make new jewelry from old, and that entails chopping it up...so this popped into my head)
3. Eclectic Raen & Her Beads

Please please give me some feed back.
